Mabamba wetland swamp is located at the western side of Lake Victoria. This is a wide marshland that stretches through a long narrow bay and it’s considered to be one of the best birding spots in Uganda for predominantly encountering the rare Shoebill stork, but also many other beautiful bird species like Malakite, African Jacana, Swamp hen, pied king fisher, Yellow billed duck, long tail lapwing, Purple heron, Papyrus gona lake, Eaglets and many more.
My favourite is the beautiful water lillies that will take your breath away. I say never visit mabamba Island and not come back with a flower in your hair hahahahahaha.
This is the right place to discover Africa while using unique treks and amazing scenic views. If you love Ohoi punting for some of you who have visited canterbury in The UK then Mabamba island is a must visit for you.
We can track shoebills either in the morning or in the afternoon and all our trips come with lunch at busi island. Its a half day activity if you have 6 hours to spare before your safari circuit begins or after your safari circuit ends.
After we find our shoebill and observe it for a while to your satisfaction we will depart from Mabamba swamp back to the peer in Entebbe.
