ENTEBBE GOLF COURSE

Entebbe golf course is one of the best courses in East Africa, with the best fairways in Africa and wild animals which are free with people. It is the oldest course in Uganda built in 1901 and it has 18 holes totaling to par 71 which include par 3 six holes, par 4 seven holes, and par 5 five holes. This course is bourdaring the Uganda Wildlife Education center ( ZOO) with a total course length of 6684 yards. The course is playable all year round. The club also features 2 tennis courts, 1 basketball court, a cricket oval. Indoor games include badminton, darts and snooker.

 

Tourism

Entebbe Golf Course is sorrounded by a lot of Tourism cites and activities which include:- 

  • Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, is surrounded by the peaceful waters of Lake Victoria, and is home to 48 orphaned chimps rescued from ngathroughout Uganda. Island facilities offer day and overnight visitors an exceptional opportunity to closely observe and interact with these fascinating great apes in this unique setting.
  • Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (ZOO), is within walking distance from Entebbe Golf Course which is a centre for breeding, recuperation and rehabilitation of Ugandan animals that have been rescued from poachers and illegal traders or from injury in their habitats. These animals are released back into the wild when possible by UWEC who also work to educate the people of Uganda about the importance of our local animals and conservation.
  • Entebbe Botanical Garden, is within walking distance from Entebbe Golf Course. Established in 1898 and home to over 320 varieties of exotic plant species and an abundance of birdlife and mammals the rainforest zone was used in the original ‘Tarzan’ film in 1940.
  • Mabamba Swamp, Half day trips can be organized to the swamp and surrounding islands in search of the sought after Shoebill Stork.
  • State House, is the official residence of the President of Uganda and is just opposite Entebbe Golf Course.
  • Entebbe is also home to the historical site in Kigungu where the first catholic missionaries Brother Amans and Father Mon Maple Lourdel landed to establish the catholic faith in Uganda. 
  • Uganda reptile Village Entebbe, is located on Kampala-Entebbe Highway at Abaita Ababiri.  It is on one hectare of land just 4 km off the Entebbe-Kampala Highway. The area where the Reptile Village is located is fast being developing into a middle class residential zone. They are over 20 reptile species on display and over 50 reptiles in total.
  • Fishing on lake Victoria, is now one of the most popular actities in East Africa due to its untapped island fossils sites and the general quiet and private atmosphere that offers peace and tranquility. You are most likely to catch Nile Perch, Tilapia, Mamba and so on.
